The Nazareth community has always been home to great champions and the marching band is no exception. Since the Blue Eagles have embarked upon their competitive field show journey in 1980, the band has amassed an impressive 218 victories (75.0%), 42 second place awards (14.4%) and 13 third place awards (4.5%). Competing in 291 events in their 41 year history, Nazareth has placed out of the top three only 19 times. The Nazareth Area Blue Eagle Marching Band has been crowned US Bands Northern States Champion 8 times and Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Champion once, encompassing competition from the best bands from Maine to Georgia. In addition, Nazareth has been crowned US Bands Pennsylvania State Champion 8 times as well as Mid-Atlantic States Champion twice. In perhaps their greatest achievement to date, the Blue Eagles were the 2007 & 2008 US Bands Grand National Champion, outscoring every band at the National competition in Annapolis, MD regardless of division and achieving the highest score in US Band’s history in 2008 (98.575)! Six years later, the Nazareth Area Blue Eagle Marching Band is proud to retain their honor of having the highest historical score and to have been distinguished with the National Marine Corps Esprit de Corps Award for 2008, 2011, and 2013! The Blue Eagles also captured the title of Group 4 Open US Bands National Champion in 2010 and 2014. In 2018, the Nazareth Area Blue Eagle Marching Band made the switch to Cavalcade of Bands where they have been consistently challenging themselves and other bands around them. In their first year they placed 3rd in the Yankee Open Division. In 2019 they placed first in the Patriot Open Division Championship held at Hershey as well as taking home Best Music and Best Marching with a score of 96.10. Most recently, the Nazareth Area Blue Eagle Marching Band placed 1st in the Yankee Open Division Championship at Hershey with a score of 96.25 also taking home the Best Music, Best Marching and Best Effect Awards. Whether they are supporting our football team or performing as a competitive group of their own, the band is proud to represent the Nazareth Area School District and the greater Nazareth community.
